JAPAN TO HOST WDR 7s WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP 2026

World Deaf Rugby is pleased to announce that the Japan Deaf Rugby Football Union has been selected to stage/host the WDR 7s World Championship 2026 in Japan. The event will be held in Japan in late October/early November 2026, in either Saitama, Tokyo or the Gifu prefecture. There will be both a Men’s 7s Competition and a Women’s 7s Competition.



Team accommodation and meals will be provided in hotels situated within walking distance of the tournament venue. Japan will also arrange team bus transport from/to Tokyo airport.


The tournament will take place over 5 or 6 days. Firm dates in late October/early November 2026 together with confirmation of which of the two locations within Japan has been decided will be announced by June/July 2025.


The JDRFU and WDR are continuing to discuss and jointly work on planning for the event. We will keep everyone informed of developments through regular communications and information updates.


World Deaf Rugby very much looks forward to seeing Deaf rugby players from all over the world in Japan in October/November 2026.
